What It Costs
Proofreading: $12 per 1,000 words
Punctuation, spelling, grammar, typos, double words, verb tense, subject-verb agreement. This should be the final check on a finished document.
Light Editing: $20 per 1,000 words
Grammar, word choice, sentence structure, echo words, light formatting, tweaking words and sentences for readability, clarity, and coherence. Suitable for a previously edited draft that is in good shape with substantive revisions already completed.
Heavy Editing: $30 per 1,000 words
All the above plus optimizing and restructuring at the sentence and paragraph levels to make substantial improvements. Great for revising an early draft that needs some work.
Developmental Editing: Contact for estimate
Plot, setting, structure, character development, adding/deleting/rearranging content, etc.
